Thank you for your participation in the Second Charity Walk in support of our organisation. Thank you to those of you who came out to walk with nearly all of our rescue centre dogs – they needed it so much. The day was a complete success and, also, everyone who so wished joined us for a get together at the end. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

  1. Here is the link to the original Spanish article:

Santa Clara Charity Marches against Animal Abandonment in Tobarra

    Monday 5 January 2015

A group of people of all different ages, responded positively to the call of La Asociación Protectora de Animales Santa Clara (APA)*, and marched through the streets of the town, accompanied by dogs collected from the animal shelter, to raise awareness of neglect and abuse . Each of the walkers (around thirty) picked up a dog from the charity’s temporary shelter, where all of the animals who could walk were taken out: those who stayed behind were fifteen puppies, dogs who were too sick or too old to come out or those who could not walk on a leash. Although the departure was scheduled for 10 am, this was delayed by one hour, with the march beginning from the old road Madrid Cartagena, opposite the bus station, and finishing at Park Farm, where the participants enjoyed a lunch prepared by the members of the charity.
The President of the organisation, Carmen Coy, states that they are very satisfied “for children to take part, as it is all about education and raising awareness on a local level.” Upon returning to the shelter after lunch, there was an open day “to publicise the day-to-day work done by volunteers: cleaning, feeding, providing water, medication and cures.”
The President reminds us that they are still selling the charity calendar “for a small fee of five euros, which is intended to cover the cost food and veterinary care. The people who have bought it are more than satisfied with the final result as each picture means something special for every volunteer who appears on the page.”

*Translates literally as: Association for the protection of Animals, Santa Clara

  2. Sorry, in the last paragraph, it should read *cost of food*
